AP: CM Jagan opens Rs 2,700 crore Chlor-Alkali unit of Aditya Birla Group in EG dist today
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy along with Aditya Birla Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla on Thursday inaugurated Rs 2,700 crore Chlor-Alkali manufacturing unit at Balabhadrapuram village in Biccavolu mandal of East Godavari district.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that the state has attracted an investment of Rs 2,700 crore from Grasim Industries. The unit would provide direct and indirect employment to 1,300 and 1,150 people respectively, he stated.
CM Jagan has mentioned that there will be scope for generation of more employment when big business groups open their units in Andhra Pradesh. He reiterated that 75% jobs were reserved in private sector for local people.
Allaying fears of people residing in villages near to the caustic soda unit regarding water and air pollution, the CM stated that Grasim Industries withdraw its decision to set up captive thermal plant on the advice of the AP government. “With the use of advanced technology, the plant installed water and effluent treatment facility with zero liquid discharge,” he added.
